Spearheading a new scene for Framingham Artists

When the Town of Framingham closed doors on the Bancroft Building and its Fountain Street gallery and studios, over 120 artists and small biz entrepreneurs became displaced nearly overnight. Sorin Bica's reputation for creating large community murals became the catalyst for an opportunity to re-establish the Framingham arts scene in historic Saxonville. The brick mills that characterize this north side of town housed a makerspace, several studios and various entrepreneurs. When Sorin was invited to paint a mural there, he set up shop and brought the community together with plans for a gallery and more creative work spaces.

The mural, "Strings Attached" spans the divide between Building 1 and the former Roxbury Carpet factory, and is another addition to the Bica public mural collection depicting people and as the thread of community.

Saxonville Mills and its creative community can be found at
2 Central Street in North Framingham along the Sudbury River Valley.
